Biography
NEIL MOORE
I first started DJ in around about 1984 (aged 14ish). The 80s soul sound kept going through these years until house music exploded onto the club scene in 1988, which incidentally coincided with my eighteenth birthday. My first Djing gigs centred around clubs and pubs in Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire.
While serving in the Navy I continued my interest in DJing at several clubs in Portsmouth and at home in Luton. While overseas with the navy I managed to talk my way into djing in clubs in Hong Kong, Vancouver, San Francisco, (Oakland) and Acapulco in 1990. 1992 brought my first direct contact with Forces Radio BFBS while in Gibraltar. Although not much time was spent presenting specialist dance shows on BFBS in Gibraltar I did spend time working clubs both there and along the Spanish south coast. I left Gibraltar in 1993.
I only spent a year in the UK before being posted to Hong Kong where I managed to continue with BFBS presenting dance, R&B and weekend breakfast shows. Alongside regular gigs at the China Jump (Remember Gazza and the England team a bottle of Tequila and a dentist chair) and Someplace Else. After leaving Hong Kong on the day of the Handover I returned back to the UK via two months in Manila to leave the navy.
After a short amount of time off. I went to Catterick to work on an RSL for BFBS followed by six weeks in the Falklands at this time turning down an approach to join the dance formatted radio station Surf in Brighton. March 1998 I started full time with BFBS UK at Chalfont, presenting various shows, production and using my club background providing anthem and upfront dance mixes for BFBS UK shows.
The later part of 98 saw me becoming BFBSs Head Of Dance as well as my Dance Anthems show hitting the network and a heavy involvement with the much publicised launching of XL Friday which culminated in BFBS broadcasting the Ministry of Sound radio show.
1999 saw a change of venue. With my posting from BFBS UK to BFBS Brunei, in August. I continued to present the Ministry of sound programme. I also mix the club mixes for the weekday network evening show three nights a week
2001 Relocated to Germany.
My current Saturday night show is called Club Culture and can be heard wherever the forces are and online at 9pm Saturday night (Online central european time)
BFBS currently broadcasts across Germany, Cyprus, the Balkans, Iraq, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. Also in Northern Ireland, Holland, Belgium, Gibraltar, Turkey, Brunei, the Falklands, Belize, and Canada
